How the ReachScan instrument works — schematic

This diagram shows the instrument workflow rather than a measured result. A committed sequential construction is swept along its commitment axis; sampled continuations are projected through declared channels and assembled into a profile. The displayed M = 64, B = 2,048, heatmap cells, and checkpoint emphasis are illustrative Case A settings.

A — Sweep axis

Committed sequential construction

The trace under examination, with checkpoint positions marking each commitment fraction at which the future field is sampled.

B — Sampling operation

Continuation rollouts

At each checkpoint, M continuations are sampled under a declared policy and budget. The fan is a schematic of that finite probe.

C — Projection channels

Diagnostic projections

Each sampled distribution is projected onto multiple channels — residue, answer, scaffold parameter, semantic mode — that probe structurally distinct properties.

D — Profile readout

Assembled profile

Channel readouts at each checkpoint are stacked into the profile. The cells shown above illustrate possible features; they are not raw measurements.

Reading the diagram. The instrument operates as a sweep across the commitment axis (A). At every checkpoint position, M continuations are sampled (B). Each sample is projected onto multiple diagnostic channels (C). The channels are stacked into the assembled profile (D). This is a schematic architecture: the numerical labels and colored cells illustrate the legacy Case A configuration rather than report a new run. Declared policy, budget, target, seeds, code version, and hashes support provenance and reproducibility checks; receipts alone do not guarantee replayability or independent reproduction.
